Dots
Habits, tasks, and a calm view of your own time. Not a productivity dashboard — a quiet place to see what you are actually doing with your days.
The idea
Most task apps are built around the next item on the list. Dots is built around the shape of your time. A day is a small square. A habit is a field of squares that fills in as you keep it. A life is a grid of weeks, one cell each, counted from the day you were born.
Seeing that shape changes the question you ask yourself. Not «what is left today», but «what have I actually been doing». The app stays deliberately calm about it: no streaks shouting at you, no badges, no nudging you back into the app for its own sake.
What it does
Everything below is in the app today.
Habits and tasks together
One-off errands, recurring obligations and habits live side by side — each with its own schedule: daily, chosen weekdays, days of the month, or every N days.
Five ways to see a day
A plain list, a tracker, a grid of habit squares, a minimalist view, or loose circles grouped by list. Pick whichever matches how you think.
Streaks that forgive
Streaks and records, with a small budget of freezes so a single missed day does not erase months of work. Days off can be scheduled without breaking anything.
Your life in weeks
Every week you have lived, shown as a single cell and anchored to your date of birth. A long view that no calendar gives you.
Day cards
A short note and a photo for a day, kept private or shared with friends you have added yourself. Your own archive of ordinary days.
A walking journey
Your steps, read from Apple Health, carry you along routes through real cities and unlock hand-drawn landmarks along the way.
A voice assistant
Say what you need — add a task, move it, mark it done — instead of tapping through forms. No chat window, no cartoon mascot.
Widgets and a Mac app
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities for timers, and a companion menu-bar app for macOS.
Built to be lived with
A few decisions that shape how the app feels.
It does not fight for your attention
There are no engagement notifications, no daily streak alarms and nothing designed to pull you back in. Reminders exist because you asked for them, and every category of notification can be switched off in one place.
It works without an account
Signing in is optional. It exists so your data can move between your own devices, and so you can share specific things with friends you added yourself. Everything else happens on the device.
It is one app, not a suite
Tasks, habits, statistics, the life grid and the step journey are parts of the same picture rather than separate products sold separately.
